2-05-08 Banding Ducks

Tonight Dad and I were invited to participate in a duck banding project by the Division of Wildlife Resources. It was a neat experience.
The ducks are baited in with corn and then trapped by a huge compressed air net gun.
This duck is a cross breed between a mallard and pintail. Each band tell the species and sex of the duck.
About 70 ducks were trapped and banned. These ducks will provide data to biologists about migration patterns and flyways.

It looks like Dad wants to take his duck home for a sister to Nan.
